Tapestry

This tapestry, created as a feature and a legacy of St Mary's centenary year in 2014, encapsulates the life and work of the church in 40 squares. Each organisation in the church was asked to contribute one square that illustrated who they were. Other squares recall the seven ministers during the 100 years.

In the top row, there is the Tuesday Club. It was founded in 1980 to bring together retired ladies and gentlemen from the community to enjoy a programme of talks and entertainment and a chance to meet friends over a cup of tea. Also on the top row, the Fireside Club links active church members with those who are not able to get out and about.

On the bottom row there are the praying hands of the weekly Prayer Group. The next square reminds us of the Toddlers and their meetings on Tuesday and Friday mornings: fun for the children and fellowship for the parents, grandparents and carers.

Just a sample of the stories told about St Mary's by this tapestry.
