On the evening of Monday 26th June, to a packed Church, the Presbytery of Hamilton and the congregation of St Mary's welcomed new Minister Rev. Bryce Calder.  Many valued and memorable contributions were made throughout the evening.  The induction service was led by Moderator of Presbytery Rev. Gavin Black with the sermon delivered by Rev. Christopher Rankine.  The readings were by Linda Anderson, a member of St Mary's Church Choir, and Nathan Bradshaw, a member of our Junior Church.  Following the formalities of Questions to the Minister and Congregation, the Junior Choir sang two songs before several families from the congregation participated in the presentation of tokens of shared ministry.

Our Church Choir and the Inbetweeners provided the musical items in the following 'Welcome Social' led by the new Minister himself.  As well as music, poignant and humourous tributes were made by the Interim Moderator Rev. Arthur Barrie and the Session Clerk Allan Joyce.  Rev. Derek Pope provided a warm and witty welcome from local churches, Rev. Dr Sandy Forsyth gave us an entertaining and heartfelt introduction to Rev. Calder and Stewart Maxwell - Deputy Session Clerk - offered grateful thanks to the Interim Moderator.

The evening was greatly enjoyed by all and serves as a important milestone in the continuing journey of St Mary's.
